Do your teachers have degrees?
Yes, Most of our teachers hold bachelor or associate degrees in the field of Education. All teachers have State Certificates for Early Childhood and take continual education classes throughout the year.
What is your discipline policy?
We practice a Love & Logic approach to discipline issues. Corporal or verbal punishment is never used or tolerated.
Is your center certified?
Yes, we hold several certifications from nationally recognized agencies.We are also licensed by the State of Missouri.
What type of curriculum to do use?
We use the High/Scope Approach to early learning. Our qualified professional educators use a set of key experiences, children’s assessments and children’s interests to create their weekly lesson plans. In addition, we have added a fine arts component similar to that seen in Reggio Emilia programs boosting children’s creativity.
Is there a wait list for enrollment?
Sometimes there are wait lists for new students into our classrooms. Once your child is enrolled, placement is guaranteed for the next classroom. Summer programs and after school age programs require re-enrollment each year.
What happens if I’m running late or in traffic to pick my child up?
Not to fear, there will always be a staff member that will be with your child. We do ask that you keep open communications when a situation like this does occur. However there are late fees, of a $1 per minute if you arrive after 6 p.m.
Do you have summer camp programs?
Yes. Both of our centers plan fun and enrichment filled programs for the summer months. e serve children from Kindergarten age to age 12. The programs normally start in the month of June, after area schools complete the school year.
Do I have to provide sheets for my infant’s crib?
No. Not only do you not need to provide clean sheets weekly, our infant rooms provide wipes for diaper changings. The only consumables that you will need to provide for your infant, is diapers, diaper ointment, bottles and jar food.
What are your center’s hours?
Both centers are open Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Our center does close for a few of the major holidays throughout the year: News Years Day, Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. We are also closed annually for President’s Day in order to host a comprehensive, In-Service day for all of the Little Guppy staff.
